A Recipe for #Magic – “The Magic Seeker” by Marla Martenson

Reading The Magic Seeker by Marla Martenson took me out of the doldrums of 2020, inspiring me to search for more magic in the new year. Or, as Marla put it so beautifully, to join those “…taking that leap of faith to try new things and go for their dreams.”

Those of us who seek spiritual connection, and search for meaning in everyday life, will applaud Marla’s courage and tenacity in following her own guidance despite grumblings from her beloved husband. I think many of us have been in her shoes and benefit from learning how she chose to change her own way of communicating with her spouse, rather than trying to change him. That happened as a result of changing herself.

Marla’s adventurous spiritual quest leads her to communicate with the spirit of Chief Red Eagle, a Native American message bearer from the 19th century who is channeled by a powerful shaman.

Red Eagle imparts wisdom in many different areas. I loved when he explained that spiritual masters make every single thing in their life a meditation, including dealing with an unpleasant person or situation. “The master makes everything one experience,” he explains.

Red Eagle leads the author to embody the wisdom we all know–that we alone are responsible for our happiness, that love is a personal relationship with ourself. While you may feel unhappy or victimized by someone else, he says, you are dealing with YOUR reactions and your triggers and what is mirrored in the other person. Catching triggers and mastering emotional wellness becomes a goal for Marla and one we can all work to accomplish. Then, as Red Eagle essentializes, “Magic will run through your fingertips because you have mastered your energy.”

Marla’s memoir is fun and funny as well as spiritually inspiring as we watch her pratfalls and successes. We meet not only channeled spirits, her angels and guides, but her mother Donna Reed, her matchmaking clients and colleagues, her long-term friends and their problems–some familiar and some unusual. But Marla dips into her many spiritual tools to find answers, not only for herself but for all.

Whether you’re into spirit channeling, Reiki, tarot card readings, angels and guides, or just adding a little peace into your life, dip into The Magic Seeker and enjoy the evolution of Marla’s healing abilities.

Following is my interview with Marla Martenson, author of The Magic Seeker and three previous memoirs: Diary of a Beverly Hills Matchmaker, Hearts on the Line and The Buddha Made Me Do It.

1) What would you like readers to take away from reading your book?

My intention in The Magic Seeker is to guide the reader to realize all of the places that magic exists in themselves and in others, and to come away with a knowing of why they are here. It is possible to heal, and to step fully into their multi-dimensional selves.

2) As we all look for what we learned from the challenges of 2020, can you explain how the pandemic helped you better realize your life’s purpose and changed you and your perspective?

The pandemic really shined a light on the fact that we have to become self-reliant, super creative and high vibe. We saw businesses shut down and destroyed overnight, never to reopen again and many traditional jobs lost. Fear, stress and panic emerged in the blink of an eye. So, what shifted in me was the fact that since nothing is guaranteed and nothing stays the same, then what in the heck do I have to lose by bringing out all of my gifts, talents, dreams and magic in a massive way. I decided to no longer play small, and to shine my light to lead others into their magic as well.

3) What do you recommend to readers who want more magic in their lives?

I recommend thinking back to when you were a kid, and what lit you up then. As kids, we were jumping in puddles, finger painting, and talking to our “invisible friends” without apology or worrying about what others might think. Bring back that childlike energy and there you will find magic.

4) What specific ways do you offer to help people connect to higher planes of energy?

I offer distance energy healing sessions, and I also lead a group every Saturday evening called Marla’s Magical Message Circle on Zoom, where I send energy, give a short talk and then come around and channel personal messages from the spirit guides.

5) What do you see as your path going forward?

My next chapter in life is coaching. I became certified in 2020 as a Transformational Life Coach for women specializing in boundaries. I will also continue with my psychic and channeling work to bring messages through from the spirit guides for people.

6) How can readers connect with you?

A Kindle Unlimited version and a paperback of The Magic Seeker are available on Amazon.com.

NEW INSIGHTS INTO LIFE AFTER DEATH: The Dreaming Road #BookReview and #AuthorInterview

The Dreaming Road cover (1)We all want to know what happens after we die and what has happened to loved ones who have gone before us.

Well, The Dreaming Road provides answers.

What started as Elizabeth Moore’s diary to express her grief after the suicide of her teenage daughter, turned into The Dreaming Roada beautifully written novel with parallel stories of the daughter’s experience in the afterlife and her mother’s spiritual epiphanies.

The novel is extraordinary — a heart-wrenching yet uplifting exploration of the theme that love never dies.

Elizabeth Moore writes of the mother contacting her daughter’s spirit through mediums, angel guides, lucid dreaming, and automatic writing of her daughter’s voice in her head. Her daughter Cassie, called Callie in the novel, shares her experiences in a part of heaven called Summer Wind and her training by the Angel Seraphiel, all told with the same voice and wise-cracking personality she had in life. Her description of the afterlife gels with some of what we’ve heard before, but there are also many surprises.

We learn from Callie that life is not the end, but part of an eternal journey. She finds that her death was just a transition; it did not end her “life” or what she still needed to learn…

“You are not imprisoned by your history. You can own it and then let all of it go and move forward with faith and courage. You have the power to forgive everything and everyone, even yourself, and this will truly set you free. Believe me, things on Earth are not what they appear…. Everything happens for a reason — to help you know you’re love.”

Seraphiel explains how Callie’s life on Earth (thus everyone’s life) is just a dream:

“In the beginning, nothing existed except oneness and wholeness, but in your desire to know yourself, you dreamed yourself into existence as separate beings…. You are all love, but often you express yourselves as fear and judgment. Remember, nothing exists that you have not created…. Your true power is in remembering that you have created your experience.”

The mother also interacts with Seraphiel, channeled during Angel Awakening Classes, and learns the secret to feeling joy in life again. In her Acknowledgements, Moore says that she wrote this book to share the understanding she gained that “life and love go on forever, the dawn will break and the sorrow will be washed away.”

Elizabeth Moore explores profound concepts for those seeking spiritual awareness, from parallel lifetimes to insights into the angelic realm. I found it a good reminder, something I have heard before, when the Angel Seraphiel says, “We can’t help you unless you ask.”

Remember to ask for help when you need it. And I believe The Dreaming Road will provide help and solace, to those who have lost a loved one to suicide, and actually to ALL of us in this human experience who need to find understanding in the midst of inevitable loss, sorrow and pain.

Author Elizabeth Moore, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Nursing at a university in the south-central U.S. Her nursing research has focused on strengthening the bond between mother and baby immediately after birth by skin-to-skin contact, while her novel explores the eternal bonds between mother and child that continue even when one of them has passed on. Here, she answers my questions about The Dreaming Road:

What message would you like readers to take away from reading The Dreaming Road?

The message in my novel is that our connections with those who have passed on are eternal and can remain vibrant, ongoing and continuous even though they are no longer with us on earth. They’re not gone forever when they’re buried or lost to us until we too cross over. But to reestablish our relationship with them, we need to let go of the need to have their physical presence with us and focus instead on communicating with their eternal soul.

Your daughter’s suicide was certainly a tragic occurrence in your life. But, in the book, many important spiritual gifts are received. What was the most important thing you learned?

I think the most important thing I learned was how to let go of my guilt and despair over my daughter’s death by suicide. I learned that if I clung to all the pain from my past, I robbed myself of joy in the present moment. I forgave myself by understanding that I wasn’t responsible for my daughter’s death. Everyone is on their own individual path of destiny. We are all passing through this physical reality, traveling on a winding and sometimes difficult road home. Life on this side of the veil, by its very nature, is fragile and transient. And Cassie’s not gone, she just exists in another dimension.

As your book is described as a novel rather than a memoir, how much of the communication with Callie in the afterlife and with angels actually match the experiences in your real life?

The communications through dreams with my daughter were written exactly as they occurred. When I woke up I wrote everything down, so I wouldn’t forget anything. The information I received about Cassie’s experiences on the other side of the veil were written exactly as they were communicated to me. I heard what I felt was her voice in my mind and wrote down what she told me. I also talked with her through a medium and these conversations were edited to capture the essence of our communication. I did attend a class that was taught by a woman who was a physical channel for what we believed was an angel. The spiritual truths communicated by the angel were edited slightly to make them more understandable for readers. The characteristics of the setting and the individuals were modified to protect the anonymity of those involved.

So many people want to communicate with those who have passed. What would you recommend as the best way to proceed?

My communications with Cassie began in dreams and they just happened. But later, in a waking state, I found if I went into my flower garden, lay down, and let myself be at peace, I could ask her questions in my mind and she would answer them. As we continued our conversations, words became images and vivid scenes unfolded behind my closed eyelids.

So, I would recommend to first start some type of meditation practice, whatever resonates with you. I found that communication was easier if I was in a state of calm receptivity and if the love connection was strong, and more difficult if I was immersed in grief. You must also believe that this type of communication is possible. Light a candle, have a photo of your loved one, paper and pen nearby, say a prayer and ask the angels for guidance. When your mind is calm and open, ask them a question and wait for an answer. Don’t get hung up on whether it’s real or your imagination, just write down what you hear. Once you open the door and continue to set aside time for a conversation with your loved one, you’ll find that communication gets easier.

Your character is taught that she can create her own reality. Can you share more on this subject?

I believe we create our own reality by how we experience the external events that are happening in our lives. I believe we set up certain challenges that we will face before we cross over to this side of the veil. But our reality becomes how we meet these challenges, for example, with courage, faith and hope for a better day or through bitterness and despair.

I also think we can learn to manifest a more positive dream by the steps I mention in The Dreaming Road: visualizing it in in our mind, smelling it, tasting it, hearing it and imagining that it has already occurred.

But we can’t circumvent our destiny. So from my perspective, our experiences evolve from both free will and destiny. Cassie contends that manifesting is much easier on the other side of the veil because we are no longer in that time-space reality and when we imagine things there, they happen in an instant.

It was certainly a long process to work through the grief caused by your daughter’s suicide, but was there one thing that helped you the most?

It took me quite a while to find the joy in life again and I started taking small steps by just appreciating the small things in life, the scent of new mown grass or a rose from my gardens, wall-to-wall sunshine on a beautiful day, how happy my dogs were when I walked in the door. Then I moved to remembering the good times I shared with Cassie, climbing daffodil hill in spring, drawing colorful pictures with sidewalk chalk by the pool, dressing her in a mermaid costume for Halloween, hanging bubble lights on the Christmas tree or baking gingerbread cookies. These images began to replace the horrifying picture I had in my mind of finding her lying dead on the floor of her bedroom.

Now I actively try to seize the moment by doing things that bring me joy, like swimming in the ocean with the dolphins or snorkeling along a tropical coral reef and watching the fish swim in beautiful, intricate patterns.

How did the writing of this book benefit you personally, and how can reading it benefit anyone — whether or not they have experienced the type of loss you did?

I think The Dreaming Road serves as a gentle reminder for everyone that life can change on a dime and to cherish our loved ones who are still with us on this side of the veil. It reminds us not to take anything for granted and to focus on the things that bring us joy and make our lives meaningful before it’s too late. Because I began my novel as a diary, I was able to write my heart out without censoring myself. I found it difficult to be authentic in my grief around other people as there’s such a taboo around death by suicide and many are uncomfortable talking about it. Looking back, I now know how I survived and am hoping that by sharing my road map with others who have suffered similar losses, it will help ease their pain.

For resources on teenage suicide, grief and loss, as well as after-death communication, see Elizabeth Moore’s website, www.TheDreamingRoad.com.

The Dreaming Road is available today on Amazon in both Kindle and paperback.

A Glimpse of Heaven: #BookReview of DANCING AT ANGEL ABBEY with #AuthorInterview

9781504353311_COVER.inddDancing at Angel Abbey is an entertaining, whimsical, light-hearted novel that also offers deep, thoughtful messages about life and the miracle of it. The story revolves around Kate, a woman who loses her self and her purpose in life, then gets angelic help to bring her back to her divine purpose. She’s a partner in a Wall Street law firm who loses her job and her father all in 24 hours, only to discover options she had never considered.

Kate goes home to Angel Falls to see her estranged father the night before he dies and falls into despair at not repairing her relationship with him, while destroying her law career at the same time.

Author Lauren M. Bloom offers a simple recipe for healing:

“…healing comes in the simplest things — good, plain food, a favorite story, a comfortable place to sleep, the loving attention of familiar friends.”

I was captivated by the protagonist and the problems she faced, and inspired by the angelic help she received.

In fact, one of the most interesting aspect of the novel is the introduction to the archangels in heaven, and their commentary at the end of every chapter — giving us another view of what Kate just experienced. They also sprinkle their messages with advice we can all use.

“You are good enough. Just get out there and do some good.” ~ Archangel Michael

I found myself entranced by the imagery used by the author, as well as the story and the many inspirational messages woven throughout. In addition to the angels communicating with Kate through dreams, visions, visitations in disguise, and even actual physical notes, Kate also gets advice from the Lady of Angel Abbey, where she donates her time after returning to Angel Falls:

“…interpreting your memories of the past in the best way rather than the worst is a very good strategy. It can save you a lot of resentment and regret.”

I do believe, I do believe, I do believe in angels, and am not above asking them for help. They certainly helped Bloom write a perfect book to read this summer or any time of year — it’s a good read for the beach or during a quiet weekend at home. Either way, it will be hard to put down.

It’s easy to see why Dancing at Angel Abbey won the New Age Fiction category in the 2017 International Book Awards.

Here is my interview with Lauren M. Bloom, an attorney, interfaith minister, and award-winning author who believes that listening to the voices of angels can help us discover our best destinies and become our finest selves:

Is there a message you would like readers to take away from your novel?

Life is meant to be a magical, magnificent adventure. We were meant to live in loving collaboration with the Divine, to care for one another and our shared world, and to savor the incredible experiences that come from just being alive. Scary as it gets sometimes, I believe that we’re always beloved, and that help and comfort are always there if we remember to ask for them.

Your bio says that you are an attorney and an interfaith minister. Is any of Kate’s story modeled on your own experiences?

It is, although I haven’t had the kind of direct encounters with archangels that Kate experiences (at least, not yet). However, I know the kind of soul-crushing damage that a hard-charging professional career can inflict. I’m all too familiar with Kate’s sense of never being good enough, and of longing for a gentler, more meaningful life. Like Kate, I get tremendous satisfaction out of giving practical help to people who need it, but I can be stubborn about accepting help. And, like Kate, I’ve had the privilege of being owned and loved by several Siamese cats. All of those experiences contributed to Kate’s character and the choices she made throughout the book.

You describe Kate and modern women in general as self-loathing. Why do you think that is, and what is the remedy?

We hold women to ridiculously high and narrow standards in our society. Unless you look like a fashion model, have a successful career, are in an ideal relationship, raise flawless children, live in an immaculate home, and devote your spare time to community service, you’re not accomplishing as much as you “should.” That message is everywhere in popular culture, and it’s positively brutal.

The remedy, I think, is for women to recognize that “perfection” is the last thing we can, or should, strive toward. Rushing around trying to juggle all of those demands is a wretched way to live. Learning to appreciate our “imperfections” as the things that make us uniquely precious isn’t always easy, but it allows for a much more comfortable and happy life. It’s also better from a spiritual perspective. Perfectionism strangles gratitude, and being genuinely grateful for our imperfectly beautiful selves is a huge first step toward entering into a loving relationship with the Divine.

In your plot, Kate loses her job over a seemingly small lie. Why do you think lying is so pervasive among people when, as one of the archangels says, “…it always gets them into so much trouble?”

People most often lie because they’re terrified of the consequences of telling the truth. A lot of the time, there’s reason for that fear. Going back to the perfectionism that poisons so much of our society, I’m concerned that we’ve reached the point where even a minor mistake can ruin a person’s life. Kate’s lie was relatively insignificant, but I’ve seen people lose jobs over less. If we want people to stop lying, we have to make it safer for them to tell the truth. Yes, hold people accountable for their mistakes, but keep those mistakes in perspective and make sure that the consequences don’t become too severe.

With help from many angels, Kate leaves the practice of law and discovers her divine destiny. Do you believe we all have a destiny that is mapped out for us?

I don’t believe that anyone has a predetermined “divine destiny,” because that would make us nothing more than pieces on a game board. As beings with free will, we make choices that are more or less consistent with our better selves, and the choices that bring out the best in us are, in my opinion, the choices that lead us to our best destinies. It can be very tempting to pursue things like power, money and fame just to have them. There’s nothing inherently wrong with those things, but it’s important to remember that we literally pay for them with our lives. If we’re miserable, they just aren’t worth the price.

Your protagonist gets a lot of angelic help in finding her true life’s work. How do you think one can best find meaning and purpose in their lives?

It starts, I think, with recognizing that meaning and purpose can come from many sources. What makes you genuinely happy? Anything you do that leaves you feeling as though your time was well spent is a step in the right direction, whether it’s building a skyscraper, reading to a child, singing a song, petting an animal, saying a prayer, writing to your Congress member, or calling your grandmother. Maybe you want to make the world a better place, or maybe you just want to enjoy some time alone or with someone you love. Maybe it’s what you do for a living, or maybe it’s what you do when you’re not at your “day job.” Each of us only has so much time in this life. Spending it in a way that seems meaningful to you is important enough that it’s worth devoting enough time to figuring out how you really want to spend the rest of it.

If someone wants help from the angelic realm, how would you recommend they ask for it?

Just ask. Don’t worry about choosing the perfect words, don’t worry about things you’ve done that you wish you hadn’t, don’t fret about not being good enough. Just ask, keep asking, and keep an eye out for miracles. The angelic realm doesn’t always answer right away or exactly as expected, but an answer always comes, and it’s always to the good. There have been times in my own life where it’s taken me years to realize just how important it was for me not to get exactly what I wanted. Once that realization finally dawns, however, I’m always grateful that the angels took better care of me than I would have taken of myself.

You mention that self-forgiveness may be the ticket to heaven. Do you believe most people are too hard on themselves?

Heavens, yes! And I think the people who struggle hardest to be “good” are the ones who tend to punish themselves the most. There’s nothing wrong with having dreams, and ambition can be a wonderful thing if it arises out of a happy excitement about life’s possibilities. But even the highest achievers among us fail at least as often as they succeed. I also believe that it can be very difficult to forgive anyone else if you’re unable to forgive yourself. Time spent agonizing over mistakes, whether they’re your own or someone else’s, is time wasted. It’s better to forgive, and to devote that time to something more productive and pleasant.

You write that miracles happen every day. Can you explain that?

In my opinion, it’s a mistake to think that miracles have to be huge and flashy. The fact that each of us is here at all, that we’re surrounded by beauty if we stop and look for it, that love exists, that there are an infinite number of things we can do, to care for Creation and each other, all of those are inherently miraculous. Here’s a simple example. Think of a piece of music, a painting, a book you like that was created by someone you never met. Even though you don’t know that person, you immediately recognize the work as belonging to its creator and, if you thought for a minute or two, you could probably explain exactly what it is about that work that makes it his or hers. Nobody else could have created exactly that song, painting or book. Each of us is that unique. If that’s not miraculous, what is?

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Read as much as you can of what you love, and write what comes to you. If it surprises you, so much the better. (I’m normally a non-fiction writer and would never have imagined writing Dancing at Angel Abbey. Once the idea for the book came to me, though, it wouldn’t leave me alone. Then, the characters started saying and doing things I didn’t expect. That got a little nerve-wracking, but it ultimately made the story a whole lot more interesting than it would have been if I’d stuck with my original plot.) Only give early drafts to people whom you trust to be both honest and kind, and get a good editor. Finally, don’t handcuff yourself by believing that your story has to be “big” or “important.”  If it speaks to you, write it down, and trust that it will speak to other people, too.

Life-Changing Foods from the #MedicalMedium: #BookReview

aIs there life-giving magic in fruits and vegetables? Can they transform you – body, mind and spirit? In Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods, Anthony William says they can. Just look at the book’s subtitle: Save Yourself and the Ones You Love with the Hidden Healing Powers of Fruits & Vegetables!

For many years I have pushed fruits and vegetables as part of The Chakra Energy Diet, as they bring needed color and nutrients to your plate, and greater balance, vitality and health to your body. And I was so pleased to read more about the benefits of these incredible gifts from the Earth.

In his latest book, Life-Changing Foodsthe Medical Medium explains the many mystery illnesses for which doctors don’t have a cure. Anthony William says more than 200 million people in the U.S. alone deal with these illnesses, from chronic fatigue to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, to cancer and many chronic illnesses. He says we need to look at the root cause of these illnesses – what he calls The Unforgiving Four: radiation, toxic heavy metals such as mercury, the viral explosion such as Epstein-Barr Virus, and DDT (an insecticide revealed 50 years ago to wreck health) which is still in our environment. And our stress culture makes it just that much harder for our bodies to cope with these added assaults.

But wait, William follows his “doom and gloom” of toxins in our environment with The Holy Four life-changing foods: fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, and wild foods.

We’ve all heard about the benefits of turmeric, yes? But William breaks down every one of the edibles he includes in The Holy Four explaining why they’re good for your well-being. Physically, he says turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and can also break the pattern of diseases such as lupus in which Epstein-Barr virus creates a continuing immune response. He lists the many conditions turmeric will help and the symptoms it can relieve. What was new for me, and probably will be for most readers, is the Emotional Support turmeric provides (if you have trouble with self-worth, turmeric is ideal). There are also Spiritual Lessons to be learned from turmeric (it can relieve inflammation that causes judgment, blame, rage or perpetual dissatisfaction).

Following a breakdown of each food’s properties and its uses, this book offers tips on how to best use the food, plus a recipe – in the case of turmeric, immune-boosting Turmeric-Ginger Shots.

On a sweeter note, William gives us insight into Wild Blueberries, which hold thousands of years of healing wisdom.

“The very first wild blueberry plants to take hold in North America passed on their survival knowledge to the planets that followed them, so that the wild blueberries we blend into a smoothie today are rich with generations of information.”

And he recommends picking your organic or wild berries yourself (an unmatchable grounding technique) and eating them unwashed for the elevated bionics they contain that no probiotic pill can match. He then offers a delicious recipe for Berries and Cream, made from whipped coconut milk.

Above all, I love this book because it explains how central food is to saving yourself – your health of body, mind and spirit. And he debunks food fads, letting you page through the many Life-Changing Foods and putting them together into just the right diet for you.

Advice Needed for Mysterious Chronic Illnesses: #MedicalMedium #BookReview

aaFor the last year, I’ve been told I needed to read Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal. I just finished it and found it quite illuminating on the cause of many of today’s illnesses that confound the medical community, from Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia to Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Just imagine being a 4-year old child at the dinner table hearing a voice just outside his right ear saying, “I am the Spirit of the Most High. There is no spirit above me but God.” The child then saw a strange man with gray hair, a gray beard, wearing a brown robe, stand behind his grandmother and wave him over. He then put the child’s hand on his grandmother’s chest and told him to say the words, “Lung Cancer.” Of course, grandma’s diagnosis turned out to be true, and Anthony William, the Medical Medium, has been sharing health information from Spirit ever since. He didn’t choose this gift, in fact he fought it for many years as a total distraction from the life he wanted, but when Spirit and an Angel saved him and his dog from drowning, he kept his promise to devote his life to healing.

While his story could be considered unbelievable, the tens of thousands of people who say they have been helped by his accurate diagnoses and treatment suggestions (usually special foods and herbs) attest to his veracity.

Who is this Spirit that talks to William? “Compassion. I am literally the essence of the word compassion. I sit at the fingertip of God.”

And no one needs more compassion than sufferers of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and other problems that the medical community has never found the cause of or cure for. Rather, many of these sufferers were told their problems were only psychological, increasing their frustration. Well, in Chapter 3 of Medical Medium, William exposes the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) for creating the secret epidemic of mystery illnesses. He also says EBV is the cause of major maladies that medical professionals think they understand but really don’t – including thyroid disease, vertigo and tinnitus.

Many of my friends and clients suffer from these ailments, so I was excited to see that Medical Medium also offers information on healing from the virus. The healing foods he recommends are all in the category of colorful fruit and vegetables (my favorite Chakra balancing foods as well). Wild blueberries top the list, and are followed by celery, sprouts, asparagus, spinach and many more. The healing herbs and supplements he recommends to heal from EBV includes Cat’s Claw, Silver hydrosol, Zinc, and Spirulina from Hawaii.

Anthony William also uncovers the secrets behind Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Thyroid problems, Diabetes and Hypoglycemia, Adrenal Fatigue, Candida, Migraines, Shingles, ADHD and Autism, PTSD, Depress, PMS and Menopause, Lyme Disease and Digestive disorders.

If you or someone you know experiences any of these problems, I highly recommend buying a copy of Medical Medium and sharing the advice on “How to Finally Heal.” The remedies are delicious – lots of raw fruit and veggies. Plus, William provides Soul-Healing Meditations and Techniques and the truth as he knows it about Angels. Did you know you had to call on an Angel’s help “out loud,” not in your mind for them to pay attention?

aThe many case studies in the book helped me leap over any skepticism I had about Anthony William’s message. If you have faith and take the lessons he offers to heart, he promises that your life can transform and you’ll understand how God, Spirit and the Angelic Realm want us all to thrive.

I’m sorry to say he is no longer available to take on individual clients, but in writing Medical Medium and his latest book, Life-Changing Foods: Save Yourself and the Ones You Love with the Hidden Healing Powers of Fruits & Vegetables, Anthony William has been able to reach so many more people. You can also check his website www.MedicalMedium.com for information on his weekly radio show and blogs.

Repairing and Releasing Energetic Ties – The Karma Chronicles #BookReview and #AuthorInterview

Screen Shot 2017-03-23 at 4.59.14 PMThe Karma Chronicles is a unique story with lots of fascinating elements, from drama to angelic interventions to poetic musings, all with the gift of healing in them.

If we believe in karma, then it’s logical that we are all born into a family, a lineage, a tribe who have set our course by their actions and reactions. Now, it would be great if the family we’ve landed into is brimming with nothing but love and light. However, for Kate, the protagonist of The Karma Chronicles, this is not the case.

Kate carries on her karmic back the scroll of destiny signed by her ancestor, Lord Hadrian. She has to deal with karmic shadows including abuse, violence, betrayal and abandonment before she is able to heal the feeling of unworthiness cast upon her.

Kate is helped in her karmic challenge by her twin, a sister who died at birth and is in the Divine Realm, trying to protect her from the world she had been able to escape. She is assisted by Archangels who reach Kate through her dreams. They feed her spiritual tools such as writing poetry, journaling, and meditation to help her escape her fate, and to realize that she is destined for something greater than she can imagine.

The Archangels guide Kate to write as therapy:

Torn between two worlds I cannot reach and with only prayer to guide me, I thirst for each. In search of my life, I try again to figure out the past of why and when. In search of my life I take the tests. To make it on my own I have bequest. A childhood of hopes that no one knew. Once I saw in a dream-state that most come true. – Age 16

As The Karma Chronicles, Part 1: Hadrian’s Seal concludes, Kate’s drama-filled life shifts and there is hope for her future. The reader is not only drawn in by the story, but also by the knowledge that if there is hope for Kate, there is hope for all of us… the possibility to change relationships we thought would never heal. Yes, it will make you want to delve into the karma of your own family line and will cause you to shift the way you think about your own family members and their relationship to you.

Thanks to author Pepper Carlson, C.Ht., for answering my questions here:

1) Is there an underlying message you wish to relay through your novel?

You are never alone and should never give up hope.

2) Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

My grandfather loved to write poetry and he would share it with me. I wrote my first poem when I was 11 or so.

 3) In the Prologue, Lord Hadrian signs the scroll of destiny, understanding the energetic capacity of “when karma meets fate.” What do you mean by that phrase?

What comes around goes around, so whatever we put out will come back on us ten fold.

 4) As a hypnotherapist, do you have experience working with clients to connect with the spirits of their ancestors?

I don’t do regression therapy in the true sense of the word. The way I work with my clients is a current reality based approach. We explore the recreation of familiar experiences. And how even though we may say we want something new and different and we really mean it, we keep finding ourselves still repeating the patterns of the past (which goes back through the ancestral lineage). This is because the thoughts and words that come out of our mouths are not congruent with the feelings deep within us that were formulated in childhood.

We approach and visit the subconscious mind as your internal safety deposit box. It is literally a memory bank full of defined childhood experiences. Our deposits are made in the form of experiences, thoughts, and cognitive behaviors. As we grew up, these emotional deposits became a collective of stored perceptions. And it’s these insights that developed into our very personal model of the world. Getting the two parts of your mind to be congruent with each other is when your actions and reactions are aligned with your current belief system and values. This occurs when your conscious mind trusts and consolidates the wealth of information the subconscious mind has to offer and this payoff will literally change our life. This is the ultimate win-win situation and harmony in your life will prevail. This is how we chisel away at the karmic debt repayment plan.

5) Can you describe how one can repair and release the energetic strands in their family’s karma?

I get so excited when asked to talk about the subconscious mind because I’ve spent most of my adult life performing what I call experiments. Trying to delve deeper into the psyche. As I got older, I was like wait a minute. How come I keep doing that? How come I keep saying this? It can’t be a coincidence that my last three relationships resembled one or both of my parents. And when I say relationships it doesn’t just mean intimate relationships. This philosophy extends to friends, colleagues, and even bosses. Have you ever heard the expression, you attract that which you know? We tend to surround ourselves with what is familiar and we’re not the only ones. Our parents did the same thing, as did their parents and theirs… back even further through the ancestral lineage. In my novel, The Karma Chronicles, which will be Book One of a trilogy, I take a good look at how often certain patterns and habits get repeated and quite possibly passed down through the ages.

EXPECT THE EXTRAORDINARY – #Review and #Author Interview on Angelic Messages and the Spirit of Horses

screen-shot-2016-10-27-at-11-52-37-amExpect the EXTRAORDINARY by Sue Pighini is a fascinating look at how her encounters with angels, extraordinary people, and the world of horses changed the way she lived her life, and can change the way you live yours too.

Sue first heard the voice of an angel telling her how to save her life when she was struck by lightning, next when she was being held up at gunpoint, and third, when she needed to stop and seek treatment for what turned out to be a melanoma. She not only followed the advice that led to her surviving in all three cases, but she realized why she was being saved – to share the message that we are not alone.

After surviving cancer, Sue Pighini changed her life’s direction, leaving the corporate world to explore a spiritual path. She became a life coach and helps others find the courage to change and live the life of their dreams.

Especially interesting is how Sue became an Eagala Equine Specialist and offers horses to partner with humans for healing of emotional and physical challenges at her Livin’ the Dream Ranch. Sue’s personal relationship with Skye, her mare mentor, led me to a much deeper understanding and respect for the higher nature, intelligence and spirit of horses.

This book contains all the wisdom Sue has amassed, from her own experiences as well as from other inspiring life stories, master teachings, and animal messengers, to help us all get out of our “comfort zone” and fuel our passion for living an authentic life. Sue offers Ten Sacred Insights to help you listen to your own spiritual guidance and to better understand your life’s purpose and how you can go forward on your own path to personal freedom.

Here, Sue Pighini, answers my questions about Expect the EXTRAORDINARY:

1) What inspired you to write this book?

I was inspired originally to help my client base/my audiences to understand that we are never alone. We just need to tap into our angelic guides by gently asking them to be by our side when we need/want to connect to a higher power.

2) What message would you like readers to take away from the book?

That life is more than just the physical. We are spiritual beings FIRST having a physical experience. That we each have choices for change – we just need to be fearless in our pursuit of whatever we deeply desire.

3) Why do you think fear is such a part of our lives – what are we essentially afraid of?

Fear is all about the unknown. If we tap into our hearts, we will connect with our angelic realm and they will guide us to the exact path we want to be on. We humans are often more afraid of living than dying.

Know that each one of us have the power to live life exactly as we desire if we JUST TAKE SOME CHANCES FOR CHANGE.

4) How does an angel connection help overcome our fears?

When we connect to a power that is greater than ourselves – our soul/higher power, animal angels, divine angelic beings – we know that we will be protected. We therefore just need to listen to our deep intuition (which resides in our hearts) to get a feel of whether something is good for us or not.

5) What do you think is the best way to connect with angels?

I connect today by going inside to my heart and asking whatever question I may have. These wonderful angelic beings reside right next to us, usually over our right shoulder. Their essence lives in our hearts.

6) Did you believe in angels before the first time you had an angelic intervention?

I knew nothing about angels before I was struck by lightning and had a near death experience. The angelic presence that saved my life came to me audibly because “her” voice was so insistent and very ancient in “her” choice of words.

7) Can you explain how you saw angelic presences in the world of horses?

Horses, as with all animals, are pure energy – no ego. Their world is black and white, and they expect you to be as truthful in your path in life as they are. Horses teach us to be all we can be as empowered humans. When you are in the presence of a 1,200-pound animal, you learn to be very present in your focus at that moment. You are learning all about your authentic self.

8) What tool do you think is most important to get on a Path of Passion?

The most important advice I have given all of my clients/audiences is to take chances in life. True self-knowledge of what you can accomplish comes from living on the edge, at least a little.

In the Light of the Full Cold Moon #BookReview, #AuthorInterview and #BookGiveaway

Screen Shot 2016-08-15 at 3.47.53 PM.pngIn the Light of the Full Cold Moon by Susan Elizabeth Girard is a story of spiritual exploration and healing.

In this novel, Girard’s protagonist Savannah goes into meditative “vision states” or astral travels into another dimension of the rainforest where she meets and learns from a wise shaman, a Muslim, Chief Dan George, Jesus, a messianic Jew, a Buddhist, a Hindu, a Taoist, Archangels and other guides. She learns the importance of preserving nature and Mother Earth and keeping spirituality alive.

The book is full of a wide range of historical religious doctrine, philosophical musings, and an unflagging sense of joy in winding one’s way through both the Sacred Coastal Rainforest and the sacred within us all.

An important realization that is shared is that religions don’t matter; in fact, most have similar truths at their core. “Goodness comes in many forms,” says one of Savannah’s mentors in the forest.

Savannah learns she is an Intuitive Empathic Healer, which is why on her spiritual path she feels the suffering of others. In learning how to use her gifts, she provides us with this spiritual guidebook containing many amazing insights.

INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR SUE GIRARD on IN THE LIGHT OF THE FULL COLD MOON:

What message do you hope readers take away from your book?

Sue: I want the readers to embrace some or all of the wisdom and teachings in the book. I want them to be able to envision Savannah’s journey into the Alternate Parallel Zone and take from it something concrete that they can utilize in their own Spiritual Growth journey.

How autobiographical is your story?

Sue: Though written in the third party narrative, which gave me the freedom and license to explore the greater Realms of all possibilities, the story is in many senses quite autobiographical. Savannah is in many ways a young me, but her journey takes her far beyond where I have ventured in my Spiritual Walk.

As an Automatic Writer, I have meditated into deep communication and conversation with Spirit beings, including the Christ, and many of these writings were incorporated into the body of the book.

In the prologue, you mention your own health struggles and how writing this book helped you heal. What insight(s) during the writing process facilitated your healing?

Sue: The process of the writing of the book was a healing aspect in and of itself. I did a lot of research and visited the forest every day for my inspiration and guidance. I practiced the modalities and teachings myself faithfully every day and over time it became apparent that they were proving to be healing for me as well.  A year after completing the novel, I am very healthy, content and more spiritually evolved than I was a year ago.

How did writing the book act as a spiritual experience for you

Sue: Along my walk of discovery of my Spiritual path, I reach to expand my knowledge in my Earth Walk… writing the book absolutely brought me to a higher level of consciousness and transformation in that Walk… which will be ongoing on this physical plane as long as I draw breath. It was such a positive process for me to take and I feel truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to create a novel out of it.

Can you explain how your protagonist Savannah enters the “vision state” where she meets masters and guides?

Sue: Through deep and very disciplined meditative practice, Savannah is able to enter the dream state that takes her on her Spiritual journey into the Parallel Zone. She literally takes the Quantum Leap into an Alternate Reality.

What did Savannah learn about the nature of divinity?

Sue: She learned about the diversities of faith practices and that there is more than one way to connect with the Cosmic Consciousness. She learned that as human beings, more often than not, we are saying the same things with different words and language. The ultimate goal through enlightenment is the same. She gained insight, compassion, truth, wisdom and knowledge.

What advice do you have for other first-time authors who have inspiration to share?

Sue: Begin… just begin to write down your thoughts by first praying and meditating on your focus and then documenting your visions. No two stories are alike. Every story is as unique and different from another. If you have a passion to write, then the Ultimate Source will work in and through you to manifest your thoughts on paper.

An Enlightening and Entertaining Guide to all Things Spiritual from #author Marla Martenson

Screen Shot 2016-08-01 at 12.57.10 PM.pngIn The Buddha Made Me Do It, Marla Martenson takes us on a fascinating, roller-coaster ride as she races toward her long-term goal of trying as many spiritual modalities as possible.

Just as enjoyable as her first two memoirs, Diary of a Beverly Hills Matchmaker and Hearts on the Line, this book takes us deeper – within Marla’s inner quest for spiritual enlightenment.

The drama and the laughs are non-stop as she accomplishes the feat of becoming certified in Crystal Healing, Reiki, Life Force Energy Healing, and Psychic Development all while continuing as a matchmaker to superficial rich men, and the wife of a loving yet doubting partner.

I thought I had personally tried every spiritual healing modality out there, and experienced everything from channeling to astral traveling. But having now read The Buddha Made Me Do It, I feel like I don’t need to go to any more Whole Life Expos… Marla did a thorough investigation into New Age spirituality, energy healing and the occult. She does most of her exploring with her side-kick Julie, but her engaging writing makes you feel like you’re right there with them. You can’t help but root for Marla and hope that one day you’ll have a chakra healing session from her.

While there’s quite a bit of information about chakras, crystals and many forms of spiritual healing, this book is truly light and fun – a great read for anyone wanting to dip their toes into the metaphysical. The Buddha Made Me Do It can be considered a great recipe as to what to add and what to leave out in your own journey of self discovery. And the detox recipes she shares in the Appendix will help you clear the way.

INTERVIEW WITH MARLA MARTENSON

What sparked your interest in the spiritual/occult world?

Marla: I have always had an interest in the occult since I was a little girl. Halloween was always my favorite holiday, fall my favorite season, and cemeteries a magical place to hang out and read the tombstones, imagining what the lives and personalities were like of the deceased when they were among the living. There is so much to discover in the universe, so much magic. I am never bored in pondering the possibilities, and hidden secrets.

You tried many different spiritual/new age modalities – how did you know when you were on the right path?

Marla: I enjoyed trying all of them. For me the right path is being open to new things. There are so many modalities to try, the only thing slowing me down is money. It can be an expensive hobby. I want to try everything!

What made you want to become an energy healer?

Marla: I had a session with a shaman/energy healer at a wellness faire in the Hollywood Hills. I loved the session so much and mentally made a note how cool it would be to do what he did. Then about a year and a half later, I signed up for a crystal healing class at the Imagine Center in Tarzana. My teacher mentioned that we could also add other modalities to the crystal healing such as Reiki. I immediately sought out a Reiki Master to study with, and the rest is history, I was hooked.

How did you discover your higher purpose, and how would you describe it?

Marla: I feel that my higher purpose is to offer healing to people. I discovered it through experience. I have witnessed first-hand how people love receiving Reiki and getting their energy field cleared and chakras balanced. It feels wonderful to be a part of someone’s shift.

What advice can you give for others on a spiritual journey who are not supported by those around them?

Marla: Stay true to yourself. My husband gave me a pretty hard time about all of the spiritual modalities I was studying and getting into. He felt that I was spending too much money, as well as getting into some things that he considered to be “fantasyland.” It hurt my feelings, but I was not about to let his fears or opinions stop me from pursuing my interests and joy. There will always be people who will try to chase you off your path because of their own fears or beliefs, but that is not your business. Your business is to stay on your path. It’s your life, so live it.

In your work, what other realms do you contact and how do they support you?

Marla: I am in contact with my guardian angels on a regular basis. They are located in the 7th dimension. I use a Talking Board. I tell the story of how I began the communication in The Buddha Made Me Do It. It was the most exciting thing that ever happened to me, when I had my first communication with my angel, Murth.

Any advice on pitfalls others may fall into when they delve into the occult?

Marla: When contacting spirits angels and other entities, one must be aware that there are also low vibrational energies that can be attracted to you and attach. Learning how to protect and clear yourself is very important.

Is it possible for you and therefore, others, to maintain their traditional careers while also doing energy healing?

Marla: I think that energy healing is something wonderful to have on the side of a traditional job. You can use it to heal yourself, your friends, family and pets. Even if you never go full out with it as a career, it’s fantastic to have in your toolbox. I give myself Reiki every night while lying in bed.

SOUL SECRETS: A Spiritual Guidebook for Contacting Your “TEAM” – Spirit Guides, Angels, and Departed Loved Ones/ A Review and Interview

soulsecretscoverWe are souls having this life on Earth for soul growth and evolution, according to renowned medium and spiritual teacher, Miki Jacobs. How do you connect to your soul, live from your soul’s purpose and achieve its agenda for this life’s incarnation? With Soul Secrets, Jacobs provides a complete guidebook to help you find your answers.

Miki Jacobs provides both theory – to understand the basic concepts of spirituality and working with your “Team” of Spirit Guides, Angels and Departed Loved Ones – as well as practical advice on how to make contact with your “Team” to assist you in approaching your life with soulful solutions.

As Jacobs describes in her introduction, she was not “born” a medium as many others who channel spirit, but learned to do so later in her life. If you are interested in spirituality, life after death, and learning to communicate with your Team in the spirit world, the path is laid out for you in this book. From learning to meditate and quiet your mind so you can connect to spirit, to reading the signs from your Team, this book will help you align with your soul and your Spirit Guides and Angels to become a more loving, understanding and compassionate person.

I learned so much from reading this book and have great excitement as I connect with my own spiritual Team following Jacob’s advice.

Here, Miki Jacobs graciously answers my many questions about spirituality and her work:

Becca: What is the main message you would like readers to take away from your book?

Miki: There are actually three main messages. First I want people to know that despite the harshness of their lives, and the feeling of loneliness, they are never alone. I want them to know that they are surrounded by a powerful and wise “Team” of spirits who guide, support, and protect them at every moment. Second, in my book I teach that anyone can learn how to communicate with their Team, and with spirit in general, at any point in their lives. And finally, through my book, I am trying to help the readers shift their perspective on their lives to that of their souls and not their mind. A very crucial perspective on our lives on Earth.

Becca: How did you learn that we incarnate with a blueprint or soul plan for each specific lifetime? Through your Team or other spiritual teachers?

Miki: All the information in my book, including the spiritual concept of the incarnation blue print, is channeled from my Team and from other spirits who came thorough in readings and my daily meditation sessions.

Becca: Why are we born with an Ego Entity as part of our blueprint?

Miki: Despite the destructive and obnoxious nature of our Ego Entity, it has a major role in our overall growth and progress in each specific incarnation on Earth. This is because the Ego entity is supposed to encourage us toward change and spiritual growth once we recognize the outcome of its negative influence on our lives. The Ego Entity also can be used a “gauge” for evaluating and correcting our spiritual path. I often refer to the Ego Entity as “the opponent”.

Becca: You mention that when we allow our Ego to influence us to engage in negative actions, the dense negative energy can block the crown chakra and our connection with our Team. What do you recommend to open the crown chakra?

Miki: Discipline the ego and manage the ego. Recognize its influence and do the opposite of what it wants. Count to ten before reacting. Align with the higher self and don’t act on the Ego Entity’s temptation and influence. When you are able to ignore the Ego and act from the perspective of your higher self, you will clear up the negative energy and open up your crown chakra.

Becca: Is it possible to become an Ego-less human being?

Miki: While on Earth, this is not possible. The ego is a component of who we are when we incarnate as human beings. But it can, and should be controlled and disciplined. It is an integral part of our spiritual journey on Earth. If we were to became ego-less, we would not have any more lessons to learn on this planet.

Becca: You offer very helpful tips for meditation. What would you say is the most useful tip to quiet the mind and connect with your Team?

Miki: Take the focus off of the conscious mind by using other senses. By listening, feeling the inner body energy field, or by focusing on your breathing to name a few. The mind cannot hold two loci of attention at the same time and will be quieted by selecting the one sense or sensation as the one that you chose to focus on.

Becca: What is the major benefit of being able to channel your Team?

Miki: You can gain the benefit of their guidance and use it in your life. Our main purpose from being here is to spiritually grow and they are right here, all the time, to help us do so!

Becca: If our life’s blueprint is pre-ordained, how do we manifest something we want in life?

Miki: Only the major events are preplanned. Like gender, race, country of birth, time in which you are incarnating, significant people, etc. It is a framework for your incarnation but everything in between is available for you to manifest. The pre conditions are just that and are created by your higher self, your soul, to set up the circumstances for your greatest growth.

Becca: Can you explain how you send remote healing energy to someone/thing in need?

Miki: Energy is not bound by time or space and the intention can be sent anywhere at anytime with focus and intention.

Becca: How can you tell if the voice in your head telling you “Don’t get on that plane” is intuition from your higher self or Team, or the voice of fear?

Miki: The more you practice channeling your Team, aligning with your higher self, and trusting the intuition, you will become more familiar with the way “real messages” sound and feel as opposed to your inner voice. The biggest distinction between the two is that messages from your Team will always be positive and encouraging in nature regardless of the information, while your inner voice will always be accompanied with some negativity like fear.

Becca: What recommendations do you have for first-time writers who want to share their knowledge?

Miki: Be authentic and true to yourself, your knowledge, and others. Hold the intention of helping others with the knowledge that you have gained through your own experience and the writing will just flow. Also, you must discipline yourself and make your writing a habit. Otherwise you can easily become distracted and never finish your project.
