Relieve the Stress and Feel the Gratitude this #Thanksgiving; Get your FREE copy of The Chakra Energy Diet

How can you get the most out of the holidays without stressing out?

TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR STRESS

The hectic holiday season can leave many people feeling exhausted and anxious instead of merry and bright. Stress is also the top cause of taxing all your chakras, your immune system and your health. So, I’d like to share the stress-busting techniques I write about in The Chakra Energy Diet, FREE for download over Thanksgiving weekend.

Whether you look to modern science or ancient wisdom, stress is seen as the root of dis-ease. According to the ancient Hawaiian Huna philosophy taught by Serge Kahili King, PhD, stress plays a part in all health problems. In fact, according to Dr. King, stress can cause tension at the physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual level, leading to inhibited energy flow and, ultimately, illness.

There are many ways, such as yoga and meditation, that I use on a daily basis to relax my body and mind, as well as the following “instant healing” techniques taught by Dr. King.

What do I do first when feeling stressed out? I used to reach for a bag of potato chips until I was taught:

“Don’t eat when upset or angry.” Instead, I…

Take a Break and Breathe

Try this combination of breath and focused attention called Piko-piko breathing…

Piko-piko is a special Hawaiian breathing technique that simultaneously relaxes and energizes the body,” says Dr. King. Using shamanic techniques and chakra colors, imagine breathing in bright yellow energy from the sun into your Solar Plexus or navel area and breathing out your stress. Or pull in inspiration from the heavens, visualizing violet or white light coming in with the breath through the Crown Chakra, and exhale your stress by breathing it out with awareness at the bottom of your feet.

“I know, I know, this seems almost too simple,” says Dr. King. “But it does work.”

Relieve Mental Stress

To relieve mental stress, pay more attention to what you like, rather than what you don’t. Criticism, whether of yourself or something else, creates mental stress and then tension in your body, explains Dr. King.

First of all, don’t knock your body. Praise it for every step it takes in the right direction. Try self-love, rather than self-criticism, when you look in the mirror, even after enjoying those holiday treats. Who would put up with a critical person barraging them all day with their negativity?

Push aside that critical voice in your head, and instead, focus on something you like about yourself – you’re a good person, with your own unique style and taste.

A good morning practice, when you first look in the mirror, is to spend a full minute focusing on everything you like about yourself…telling yourself out loud everything you like about yourself. This is a quick mental stress reliever I learned from Dr. King called “Saturation Praise.”

Don’t Push Down Uncomfortable Emotions

On the emotional level, anger is often tied to inflammatory processes which damage the body, one of only many reasons to practice forgiveness. If something is gnawing at you, rather than trying to calm yourself with food, decide to let it go.

Dr. King taught me a simple anger-release technique: Place one hand on an area of your body where you feel tension or inflammation, and point the other hand toward the earth, which can absorb your angst, and say, “Whatever this is related to, I release it and let it go forever” until the tension and pain eases.

Undigested emotions can lead to your body holding on to weight as well as anger or fear. Release your emotions and stop what’s eating you. There are many reasons to forgive (even if you can’t forget) transgressions – because anger only hurts YOU.

Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”~ Buddha

You’re Already Complete and Connected

On the spiritual level, tension can come from feeling isolated or separate, and the antidote can be as easy as meditating. Dr. King suggests trying a nalumeditation, focusing for a minute on something beautiful. You will soon feel a sense of relaxation come over you and a greater connection to spirit, your higher self, or God (work with your own beliefs about this).

Once you’re in that relaxed state, it’s a good time to express gratitude for the good in your life or to ask for inspiration. When you have ideal health or reach your perfect weight, what would you like to achieve and share with the world?

Embracing the “Relaxation Response”

As you address your stress, and practice relaxation responses, your metabolism will improve, it will be easier to make nourishing food choices vs. struggling with willpower, and your body will look and feel better.

Relaxing your stress responses will allow you to better digest your food, helping you keep your waistline even during the holidays.

Conquer #Stress, Dis-ease and Weight Issues By Balancing Your #Chakras

When I started practicing yoga twenty years ago to gain more flexibility and center myself, I had no idea that the journey would take me into studying the chakras, true wellbeing and holistic healing in general.

What began as a form of exercise on the mat has turned into daylong mindfulness about how the things I do and the food I eat can lead to a healthier and happier life.

The Chakra Energy Diet: The Right Food, Relaxation, Yoga & Exercise To Look and Feel Your Best!

The Chakra Energy Diet cover

In this book, I share my passion to be mindful of how we choose to nourish ourselves. I have found that the best place for EVERYONE to start is by eating fresh, whole foods (grown organically, without chemicals and GMOs), focusing on the colorful array of vegetables and fruit that are available in your area, and reducing the amount of processed foods in your diet.

As everyone can better fight the ongoing pandemic by boosting their immunity and reaching their ideal weight, I’d like to offer a FREE DOWNLOAD of The Chakra Energy Diet. It’s FREE today through Tuesday, April 20. Please feel free to share this giveaway with your friends.

EXCERPT FROM THE CHAKRA ENERGY DIET

Many people say they’re not happy with their bodies, that they’ve tried every new diet, but in the end, NO amount of willpower can stop them from gaining the weight back later. News flash: Going on an imbalanced diet will only cause your body to attempt to recover from the “famine” and cause you to “feast.”

So, what we need is balance. Looking for answers took me right to the CHAKRAS, the energy centers in our bodies. They offer CLUES on where we’re out of balance and which foods will give us the energy we need.

The Chakra Energy Diet is anything but a traditional diet. It’s a way of using the chakras to tell us what we may want to add or change in our lives to love how we look and feel.

If you’re stressed out, feeling not so great, unhappy with the way you look, or out-of-control with food cravings, your chakras are not balanced. And shaking things up a bit – especially your food and activity choices – can dramatically help your stress level, your chakra balance, and yes, the way you look and feel.

It’s a two-way street… stressors can cause chakra imbalances, which then reflect areas of your life that need healing. Symptoms of imbalance – whether physical or emotional pain – give us useful clues on how we can change our lives for the better.

So, why DO we overeat and what can we do about it? First of all, realize it’s not YOUR fault, and let go of any self-criticism.

Before we go any further, I want to make this very clear: IF YOU THINK YOU’RE OVERWEIGHT, HAVE NO SELF-CONTROL, NO WILLPOWER, OR SHOULD HAVE A BETTER BODY, IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT!

SO, WHAT’S AT FAULT?

Learn how to conquer the stress in your life that is a double whammy to sabotage your weight and your health – download The Chakra Energy Diet today. Here’s to health and happiness for us all.

Six Ways to Reduce Anxiety

paradigmshift

If you are in an emotional rut—cycling from fear, anger, anxiety, and sadness—you are not alone. Every human being on this planet has been impacted in a few short weeks and, with that, comes strong emotions. The question is: What if how you feel today can help you transform every area of your life?

Here are some key steps on how to turn high emotion to your higher self.

1. Create Awareness

What pain is to the body, emotions are to the mind. Emotions are signals or cues that inform you that something is wrong and needs to be fixed. They arise in the physical body before they are registered in the mind and categorized as “anxiety.”

When you become aware of feelings and sensations in your body, you are able to lessen the experience of them. Why? Emotions are rises and falls of impulses in the body. The fastest way to settle emotions and create awareness is through meditation. When you meditate, you bypass inner noise and connect with the quiet that’s hidden under all stuff that goes through your head. When you meditate, your body and mind rest. At the same time, you become aware and boundless.

2. Ask Yourself This Question

When you are gripped with fear, the best way to break that hold is to challenge it with a question. Doing so leads to distracting your emotions and engaging your logical mind to create an association between the event and the emotion.

Ask yourself: “What makes my thoughts race?” Watching or reading the headlines. Working through the evening. Not getting enough sleep. Something else. Jot it down and begin to notice a trend or pattern. Start to become aware of how these patterns come together to create a habit or story that is holding you back from living a life you really want. Staying up late, for instance, can get in the way of getting a good night’s sleep.

3. Journal Daily

Journaling for no more than 10 minutes is very helpful. It brings into focus all that matters right now. Using a time-limit allows you to vent on paper without it taking over your headspace. Rather than using a laptop or mobile phone, write down what’s on your mind. The simple act of writing allows you to discharge pent-up tension.

At the end of the week, go over your entries and notice if you’ve had a change of perspective, idea, feeling, thought, or action. Simply highlight it. Review the highlighted part a few weeks later and notice the change.

4. Practice Gratitude

This one word captures it all. Gratitude is the single best way to harness the power of intention and get more of what you want into your life. Why? When a thought sticks in your head, it impacts your mood—even your day.

To incorporate gratitude into a mindful practice, find a comfortable place to rest for a few minutes. And take the time to reflect in detail about five to six things you are grateful for and loved today. Describe them in a bit of detail (e.g., being able to dip a chunky chocolate chip cookie into some yummy tea, having it practically melt in your mouth).

Journaling and gratitude go hand in hand; when you begin to focus your attention on what you love in your life, the issues that create worry fade into the background. How? As a human, you multitask but you pay full attention to one thing at a time.

5. Make a Paradigm Shift

Making a paradigm shift doesn’t take years. It’s not about stepping into a new narrative or reframing the problem so that coping is possible. A paradigm shift doesn’t seek to postpone or maneuver around what’s keeping you up at night; it creates a new possibility for greater self-sufficiency. When you have control over your thoughts, emotions, and actions, you feel good. The fastest way to create a paradigm shift isn’t about reliving the painful past, it is about bypassing it and creating greater good for yourself and others in your world.

Since your brain has the capacity to heal, adapt, and form new connections, the building blocks of self-sufficiency center around self-mastery that create habits to support mental hygiene. How do you do this? One way is through meditation. A report of the study from the Harvard Gazette published in Psychiatry Research Neuroimaging has shown that meditation changes the brain structure. When you shift from the external world to the internal world, you gain insights, information, and deep connection to yourself. It decreases anxiety and increases feelings of pleasure. As you trigger the pleasure chemicals in the brain, you decrease the overactivation of “fight-or-flight” response. There is no better time than right now to start meditating.

6. Create Emotional Safety

The fastest way to create emotional safety is to acknowledge you are safe right now. Although these are uncertain times, it is certain that this too has an expiration date. For most people, when they have control over their outcome, they feel safer. The fastest way to create emotional safety is to start turning your self-care into your personal mental healthcare. Make today the day to start a breathing exercise for two minutes, give yourself the permission to rest and kick your feet up for two minutes, or list all you are grateful for within two minutes.

Make mental hygiene a priority right now. Through some of the mental hygiene steps listed here, you can start to feel better and have more emotional security. Bit by bit, you can create the life you have always wanted—there is no better time than the present.
