FIND YOUR VOICE – BALANCE YOUR THROAT CHAKRA

“I am able to hear and express the voice of my soul.”
As you have balanced your lower four chakras, you have come to know who you are, how to interact with others, feel confidence, and love. Now, when you balance the throat, or fifth chakra, you are able to communicate your truth. Put your glorious self out for the world to hear your creative self-expression.

The Throat Chakra is associated with communication, the ability to speak honestly, to receive and process information, to know and speak our inner truth. It is the center of transformation and change.

Signs of an unbalanced Throat Chakra are an inability to express yourself, feeling stagnated, and holding on to unexpressed emotions. This can lead to frustration, inability to find the right words or even excessive talking, shyness, sore throat, stiff neck, and addictions like smoking.

When the Throat Chakra is balanced, we feel creatively inspired and able to express ourselves well. We have confidence in our beliefs and the self-confidence to share them, and the capacity to listen to others and truly hear them as well.

THE THROAT CHAKRA MEDITATION
The healing green light of the heart chakra moves up the spine to the throat, where it becomes a beautiful sky blue. Breathe in the blue light, then fill your lungs and let your throat open wide and sing whatever tone or note feels right… AAAH! You know what to say and what not to say, how to communicate well. Feel yourself singing out clear energy, loving notes, healing vibrations for yourself and the entire universe. Make yourself heard and listen well to the love that returns to you.

Tony, a character in The Chakra Diaries, is unable to connect with women – everything he says is taken the wrong way, until he balances his Throat Chakra. Learn more about his transformation, during our June sale of The Chakra Diaries both on Amazon.com and our direct-from-the publisher specials for international readers at http://www.TheChakras.org.

Heal Yourself as You Heal the Earth

Going green this Earth Day can reap benefits for both you and the environment. Breathe in the beautiful green of the Spring and balance your heart chakra. Once you are in touch with the love and compassion that is inside us all, be kind to yourself and the earth in these simple ways…

Eating organic, locally-grown food will reduce your exposure to pesticides and provide you with more nutrients in your fruits and vegetables (50 to 60% more antioxidants according to several research studies). While you’re saving your body from having to detox from toxic pesticides and unhealthy additives in your food, you’ll be eliminating the fuel spent on transporting fruits and vegetables and the waste of extra packaging. You’ll also be supporting sustainable agriculture in your area.

What you put on your body is as important as what you put in it, so opt for natural, fragrance-free personal care products. 95% of the chemicals used to make products “fragrant” are derived from scarce petroleum and are neurotoxins and endocrine disruptors. Fewer synthetic chemicals in your products equals fewer synthetic chemicals that can end up in our ecosystems.

A natural mineral sunscreen with a reflective barrier like zinc, in a non-petroleum base, is better for your skin and our ocean’s coral reefs. The CDC reported that 97% of Americans are contaminated with oxybenzone, a widely-used sunscreen chemical linked to allergies, hormone disruption, and cell damage that may actually increase the signs of aging. Even trace levels of sunscreen chemicals have been found to cause coral reef damage.

The use of chemicals to clean your home or workplace can be a source of indoor air pollution that is worse than any we experience outside. The commercial cleaners under the sink often contain concoctions of chemicals, many of which are toxic to our bodies and then to the environment once they’ve gone down the drain.

Dish and laundry cleaners are often detergents, not soaps, and are derived from petroleum, are non-biodegradable, and contain phosphates that pollute our groundwater and ocean. Safer choices are vinegar, baking soda, Borax and Bon Ami, or the latest chemical-free alternatives, like the Seventh Generation brand available at most natural food stores and supermarkets.

When doing your laundry, be aware that dryer sheets contain chloroform, camphor, ethylacetate and other hazardous ingredients. Instead, add a little baking soda to your wash water to soften and deodorize your clothes. Want a fresher-smelling bathroom, kitchen or car? Commercial air “fresheners” actually add to indoor air pollution, coating nasal passages with nerve-deadening agents and impairing our sense of smell. It makes more sense to open a window or turn on the fan or putout tropical flowers with a natural scent.

If you’re remodeling at home or work, avoid the fumes of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) as they are toxic and flammable. Luckily, many stores now carry low-VOC paint and other remodeling materials that will cause fewer headaches, dizzy spells and respiratory problems for your family or business associates and fewer chemicals damaging the environment.

Here’s to a happy and healthy Earth Day!

HOW TO KEEP PASSION ALIVE

Dear Becca,
Like Deborah in your book, The Chakra Diaries, I feel dried up, my partner looks at every woman but me, what can I do?
In a Funk

Dear Friend,
You can go from funky to femme fatale with just a little balancing of your chakras. The second or sacral chakra governs our sexuality and passion. Let’s start with your passion for life in general – everyone is attracted to someone who flirts with life and glows with love for themselves as well as others. Do you judge the way you look unkindly? Look in the mirror and tell yourself how beautiful you are, just the way you are. And move through life letting that beauty emanate from you. The second chakra is about movement and flow. Go for a swim or dance around the house. Stand with your feet planted firmly on the ground as you listen to music you love and let Mother Earth’s energy fill you. Breathe it up from the center of the Earth. Embrace the feminine, celebrate it.

When your second chakra is balanced, breathe in the energy of the bright yellow sun to fill your personal power center, the third or solar plexus chakra. Radiate self-confidence out into the world. Don’t be jealous of others’ charms, compliment them. Once you feel filled with love and joy, believe me, your partner will want to tap into that. The more love you give out, the more you will receive.
